Monster School

Bring “Monster School” to your Elementary School!

“Monster School” performances are 45-60 minute productions that MST can bring to your school! Each performance features a combination of puppets and live actors who use laughs, music and audience participation to tell great stories and deliver important messages.

The “Monster School” Story

The first “Monster School” script began development in 2011. The script was designed to incorporate puppets, live actors, music and story telling to entertain, inform and educate elementary aged audiences. Using child development research and educational models, the first script was written, and then performed in Spring of 2012. The show was an immediate success.

Since 2012, the “Monster School” family of performances have expanded to five different scripts, and a sixth currently in development. These include:

  • Monster School I: Time Tunnel Adventure
  • Monster School II: Monsters Go West!
  • Monster School III: Happy Birthday Anchorage
  • Monster School IV: The Legend of Pirate Gold
  • Monster School V: Jurassic

Each performance features the Monster School kids, a group of young monster boys and girls who attend Ms. Bagatha’s class. Live action characters like Ms. Bagatha and Mr. Splunk travel with the kids to historical settings through the use of The Time Tunnel where they meet figures from history.

But they also learn other important lessons. Each script incorporates meaningful messages about inclusivity, how to deal with bullies, and more.

“Monster School” has been performed all over Anchorage. The “Happy Birthday” script was commissioned by the Anchorage School District and Municipality to be performed for almost every 3rd Grader in the district during the 2015 Fur Rondy. Other scripts, like “Monsters Go West!” and “Jurassic” have even been performed at the Fringe in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Kids, parents and teachers LOVE Monster School. You will too! Contact us if you would like to bring the Monster School Kids to your school!
