ONE DAY ONLY 12/22 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
At Anchorage Community Theatre
Stepping into your craft is a one day workshop that will cover some of the basic knowledge and skills that one will find useful while pursuing a career in the entertainment field as a performer.
The workshop will be six hours broken down into 3 two hour sections.
Section 1 will be an introduction to aesthetics of performance utilizing Suzuki and Viewpoints.
For Suzuki, please wear shorts or leggings that allow me to see the shape of your knees. You will also need a pair of cotton socks. For Viewpoints training, please wear clothes you can move in. Yoga pants or longer, looser pants are fine. We will be in bare feet while working in Viewpoints.
Section 2 will be understanding composition on stage and screen. As a group we will explore how a single scene’s meaning can change based deliberate composition, what characters are placed in what roles, timing, and relation to the audience.
Section 3 will be an introduction to the business side of show business. What is means to join a union and how to join. The importance of knowing what contract you are working under.
What is required of you vs what is expected of you. The skills to maintain the job you have and insure you are hired again in the future. I would suggest bringing a notebook and something to write with so you can take notes.
